A suitable container for storage of dried fruit, and prunes are no exception, are either special wooden drawers, air access, or hermetically sealed glass, plastic or metal containers.
If you have a wooden container for dried fruits, prunes, store it in a well ventilated, cool and dry place.
In order to keep the prunes in a sealed container, the container is first necessary to thoroughly wash with soap and water, rinse with hot water and dry on the inside. Do not forget to do the same operation with the lid of the container.
Put the prunes in the container and close the lid. Stick the sticker on the container with the date of production and shelf life of prunes. These data should be indicated on the packaging. If you bought a prune in the market, refer to the storage period of 6 to 12 months. Keep containers with dried fruit in a cool and dry place.
If you do not take the prunes from the container every day, check the dried fruits not less than once a week, to make sure that the packaging is not penetrated moisture. If you see that the increased humidity, remove the prunes and dry it. Wash and dry the container as well. Return the prunes in a container and find another place for storage, with less humidity.
