What is phraseology
Phraseology - is the science that studies the set phrases with a modified value - idioms. Idiom exist in any language, and contain a beauty and vivid imagery of popular speech.
The term "phraseology" is formed from the Greek words phrasis (figure of speech) and logos (teaching). This term denotes a branch of linguistics that studies the composition of idiomatic language, ie, object of study of this science are semantic, morphological and stylistic properties of phraseology. Phraseology is also called a set of phraseological units inherent in a particular language, any writer or literary work. The phraseology is relatively new linguistic discipline. Its formation as a separate field of linguistics were in 40-50-ies of XX century. A significant contribution to the development of Russian phraseology made by such prominent linguists as Vinogradov, Shakhmatov, L. Bulakhovsky, Amosov, Shan N., V. Zhukov and many others. Stable phrases or idioms are expressive combination of words having a common holistic value and perform a syntactic function. Sustainability idiomatic combinations understand the immutability of lexical structure assigned to it under the expressivity - the presence of emotionally-estimated color. These phrases are used in a speech in the form of finished lexical unit and have a holistic value that often has little to do with the meaning of its constituent words, "old bird", "get out of themselves", "not enough to swear." Depending on the connection between the components, idioms are divided into three types. Idioms or phraseological seam are semantically indivisible unity that value is not defined by their component parts ( "slack", "a stitch", "sharpen fritters"). Phraseology unity - semantically indivisible combination, the meaning of which can be seen from their constituent words ( "drudge", "go with the flow", "put on the shelf"). Phraseology combinations - stable association of words, one of which is used freely, and the second is found only in this combination ( "bitter cold", "bosom friend", "hell").
